First determine the kind of coverage you need. If you have good skin you need light coverage like liquid. If you have bad skin you need heavy cream oil free foundation. To choose the correct color test on your hand just below your thumb. If you get home and don't like it you can always take it back.

Foundation appears slightly darker when applied to the face then it does in the container. Knowing that you should pick a foundation a shade or two lighter then the complexion of your face, or the same color as the underside of your wrist where you check your pulse.

Third, Match your skintone Fourth, Go to the store and consult with a specialist on what make-up brand would be suit you (wrinkles, medium coverage, sensitive skin?)

Rub a sample of the foundation onto your jawline and go into natural daylight. Choose the shade that blends into your own skin colour the best.

you need to find the closest shade to your skin tone you do this by putting some on your hand.Doing this you can see which shade goes better with your skin tone. Another and better way is try a little in one spot of your face that way you can see what shade blends and gives and natural look.

You want a foundation that matches your natural complexion. Having visible lines is not desirable. It works well to test foundations on the back of your hand; it is similar to the complexion of your face.

Always apply a small sample of foundation to both the top of your hand and to the underside of your wrist, this will allow for the closest match to your natural skin color. Take into account your skin type, oily versus dry, and choose the foundation type that works for you.

Leave it to the professionals and go to MAC cosmetics and they'll pick the perfect shade. If you go home and decide you don't like it; you can return with your money back.

It isn't actually that difficult to find the right shade of foundation. First, look for colors that appear close to your skin tone. The next step is to try samples. You want to test the color on the back of your wrist. You have the right when it blends in.

The best thing to do is go to a makeup counter and have them do your match. If on your own, match the makeup the back of your hand.

You might go to a department store make up counter and have them help you find the right color to match your skin. Or, to a store like Sephora where they will give advice. Or, a trusted friend who wears makeup and will help you out.
