Murphy oil soap is probably the best stuff to use for cleaning wood cabinets. My family has used it for years and it always works great.

Cleaning cherry wood requires a good rubbing compound like Old English. Simply clean the wood with a furniture polish to remove any dirt. Next, you want to apply the wood rubbing compoung according to the application directions on the container. You only need to apply this type of product once or twice a month to keep the wood looking nice.

I would clean them good with Murphy's Oil Soap, and then I would wipe them down with a coat of mineral spirits.

You should dust them regularly, and also use a dust spray. You can use Pronto anti-dust or Pronto for wood, both are very good at preserving the shine on furniture and the anti-dust formula really works, it actually keeps the dust away for a longer period of time than others.

It depends on the nature of the original finish. If it is nitrocellulose laquer or acrylic, you can't feed it, so you use Pledge or Mr Sheen. If it is an old fashioned shellac based polish, like French polish, you can feed it using a wax based polish like Guardshine. Some old finishes respond better when rubbed with vinegar first.
