First of all, you have to be an attorney. This means finishing law school and passing a state's bar exam. After you are licensed to practice law, there is special training in mediation offered by a wide variety of agencies, any of whom can certify you as a mediator.

Presently their are alot of job openings for a professional mediator in business. To be become a professional mediator one needs to attend special classes at a mediation school. Most mediators work on business law suits where they judge the merits of the case rather them employing the more expensive legal court system.
