How serious is a degloved tail in dog?

Puppies only a day or two old get degloved in order to fit breed standard, this occurs so they will forget the pain. Just make sure dog is pain free

A degloved tail can be a serious injury. Depending on how severe, a vet may have to stop the bleeding, clean the wound, apply a topical to prevent pain and flush the wound. A solution is used to clean away bacteria, as there is risk of infection.

I didn't think you could deglove a dogs tail, isn't that what you do to a rat. Isn't it called devolving?
