The cost to change a fuel pump in a 1996 Cavalier can vary depending on the mechanic that you ultimately choose. Master mechanics typically charge slightly more , but do much better work. on average you should expect to pay about $300 for the parts and labor necessary to change teh fuel pump on teh vehicle.

Labor for changing the pump should be 2 hours. Plus the parts. So depending on the shops labor rate and type of pump installed $600-$1000.

The fuel pump is located next to the fuel tank, so depending on how difficult it is for the mechanic to access, plan on 200 to do the job.

It's going to cost about 100 dollars or so. It depends on which make you get . The older models are usually pretty cheap. If you want to change the fuel pump, it might be hard to find for that model as well so you might have to pay more.
