About 1/2 a cup of small dog food a day when he is a pup then at about a year you want to feed him a full cup of dog food. It is good to regularly, place your two hands on his ribcage gently to feel his ribs.The ribs shouldn't poke out,and should palpate.

It all depends on the jack russell and how you feed it some eat three times a day and they eat more each time so they arent hungry before time to eat again if they eat free choice they only eat a little each time but many times.

Jessy eats a hand full once a day, and 1 or 2 snacks. I don't give her to much because she's a small dog and gets easily over weighted.
