EZ Pass is free if you sign up for them with a credit card for automatic refilling. Generally you'll have to put twenty five dollars on to an account and you will receive them in the mail within a few days. Much more convinient than paying the toll at the booth.

The initial payment is $35. Once your balance goes below $10 there are various options to automatically or manually "recharge" it. The following are all required for Maryland EZ Pass: Drivers license number Applicant (and co-applicants) Name and Mailing/Billing address List of vehicle make/model/color/year and license plate numbers Payment information/Account replenishment option

An EZ Pass transponder costs $21. However the initial purchase of the transponder is $46 which includes a $25 toll balance. The transponder must be registered on the EZ Pass website within a week once it is first used.
