It will depend on whether the dove or pigeon is a pet or is wild. The longest a mourning dove ever lived is nineteen years, but the average annual survival rate for adult columbidae (which means pigeons and doves) is between forty and sixty five percent.

On average, a free living pigeon will live ten to fifteen years in rural areas, but only five in urban areas. Doves will typically live seven to eleven years in non-hunting areas of the country, but have a life expectancy of only one year in hunting areas of the country.

It really depends on whether they are in the wild or taken care of by a human being. Pigeons will typically live for around eight to fifteen years if kept as a pet. Some have been heard to have lived for even up to twenty some years. In the wild though, most will live for five or six years.

It is said that if a pigeon is a wild pigeon, then it can live around 5 years. However, if the pigeon is domesticated then it can live 15 years.
