How many Jews actually died in the Holocaust?

To know that question would be to know how many Jews there were before the Holocaust, and that would mean among other problems defining who is a Jew because it's not like they were physically different or recorded in a baptismal record. The amount is -- too many. ~six million.

Although we will never have an exact number, between 1945-46 it has been estimated that roughly 6 million Jews were killed.
