Female copperheads are among the snake species that do birth live young rather than laying eggs. A typical litter of snakes could be four to seven little ones. However, a big litter from a larger snake might be as many as twenty young snakes in all. The young snakes look a lot like their parent except for being smaller.

The copperhead breeds in late summer and usually has from one through seven live babies, although they can give birth up to 20. The female can produce babies for several years in a row and then go for a few years with none. These snakes prefer to leave humans alone and most meetings are accidental.

Copperhead snakes can have many eggs depending on the condition of breeding. Once the snake is four years old it is ready to mate and then lay eggs. Depending on how well the breeding went the snake can have as many as 1-14 babies.

Copperheads do not lay eggs. They are poisonous snakes and have their young live.  add a comment
