There were 3 unmanned missions, 11 manned missions, and 1 manned mission with a failed launch due to a fire on the launchpad and the deaths of 3 astronauts. This puts the total at 15 missions. Apollo missions 2 and 3 never existed, so after Apollo 1, the mission numbers were 4 through 17. Apollo 13 was a partial failure.

There were twelve Apollo missions which have been manned, and several projects which were cancelled prior to launch. The Apollo 13 project of course is perhaps the most famous.
