Generally the test will show up right away as positive or not. Go to your physician and get a test done. It's always good to do a follow up every 6 months in case the test missed something or you were exposed again.

Blood tests are not known for their accuracy when it comes to testing for herpes, swab tests (when you have an outbreak present)are more accurate. being celibate for 10 years avoid STD and feeling suicidal, really think you should seek some professional help. Those are very extreme statements and lifestyle choices you are making something that may never happen.

Herpes is a virus. You can test positive once it has entered your body. Sometimes it may take longer for a positive result. If you have been exposed you should see a doctor.

It is most often two to three weeks after initial exposure to the herpes virus for a sore to appear.
