The distance is about 5600 miles (9000 km) and it takes about 11 hours to fly to Johannesburg which is in the northern part of the country. It may take a half hour more for Cape Town, since it is on the southwestern shore. It's quite a long trip to either city.

if you are flying from heathrow to johannesburg, the flight can take anywhere between 12 and a half hours to roughly 22 hours. this is based on a flight out of london soon, from february 1st to 8th. most flights have transfers as well so it may even take longer

London to Johannesburg is an 11 1/2 hours direct, London to Cape Town direct is 12 hours. South African Airways and British Airways are the most direct airlines.
