Concussions can be very serious. It is a bruising of the brain. If your puppy seems lethargic and disoriented an x-ray should be done to determine how bad the damage is. Recovery should take no longer that one day for a mild one, up to hospitalisation for a severe concussion with loss of consciousness.

If your puppy has concussions frequently there is something wrong. There is no reason for a puppy to have a head injury bad enough to cause a concussion. Monitor what your puppy is doing. Is the puppy being abused in some way, by children or another person? Sounds like your puppy needs to see a vet.

If your dog has had a concussion you need to bring him to your Vet's office to have him checked out. It's just like a human concussion. He could start puking and get dizzy. If your puppy has had concussions before alert your Pup's doctor of this. It's better to be safe than sorry.

It depends on the seriousness of the injury and the harm done to the brain. Don't expect a full recovery before three weeks.
