It takes about a day or two after the mating for a parakeet to lay an egg. She'll lay eggs approximately every day until there are three to five eggs.

It takes about two days for a parakeet to lay an egg. You won't be able to tell when there is an egg present however as she won't look 'pregnant' like mammals! She will most likely sit on the bottom of her cage and strain a bit until the egg emerges.

A parakeet is a bird which is commonly found in either the wild on in captivity and where it is will ultimately depend on when it lays an egg. If it is in a household you can expect it to take about 4-6 months in between egg laying however if in the wild it is much less.
