Under normal conditions, a female lovebird lays eggs between 5 to 12 days after mating. They may also lay an egg every other day until they all have been laid. Collective eggs that they lay at time may vary from 3 to 7.

The first egg is usually laid within ten days after the birds have mated. After that, the female bird will begin to brood. She will generally go on to lay further eggs at the rate of approximately one every other day. It can take up to ten days for her to finish laying. Brooding takes around 22 to 25 days.
