The incubation period for hummingbirds is typically two to three weeks, so even if you're lucky enough to spot a hummingbird nest and eggs (the eggs are about the size of a baby's finger), you may have to wait a long time to watch them hatch.

It varies a bit from species to species. Usually the female sits on the eggs from 16 to 21 days, depending on the weather. The cooler it is outside, the longer it takes for the eggs to hatch. There are almost always two eggs, the second being laid two days after the first.

Humming bird has two eggs laid on different days, but both hatch on the same day. Incubation starts only after the second egg is laid. It takes approximately sixteen to eighteen days for hatching and may take longer if the weather is cooler.

The Actual Incubation Period Of A Hummingbird, usually takes anywhere from 16 to 18 days... The Female Is The Only One Who Takes Part In The Process, And If There Happens To Be Colder Temperatures At The Time Of Hatching, It Can Take a Little Longer For The Hatching To Take Place.
