Depending on the species of Cichlid, the gestation period for cichlid eggs is between 18 and 25 days. Many species of ciclids are mouth brooders, meaning the female will carry the fertilized eggs in her mouth until the gestation period is over. After hatching, cichlid fry should be separated from their mother, or she mistake them for a food source.

Cichlid eggs usually hatch after 7 days. The parents take care of the eggs and guard the babies (fry) after hatching. Once the eggs hatch, the parents will then start moving them around. Once the fry become free swimming, the parents will herd them around the tank and scoop out nests for them to bed down during the night.

The first answer I think is more for American cichlids and the second sounds like African cichlids, I could be wrong tho. My understanding is gestation is much longer for African and that American can hatch in as little as a couple days.
