The maximum length is equal to the diameter of the universe. Nobody will care, but people might point and giggle. The MINIMUM legal length is 18 inches for the barrel, and 26 inches overall length, and the Feds care a LOT. A 17. 99" barrel and/or a 25. 99" overall shotgun length is a felony, with fines and imprisonment. Cut it long.

Shotgun barrels come in a lot of lengths. Most barrels are in the 26-30 inch range. However some may be as long as 32 inches.

Shotgun barrels are usually up to three feet in length. There are longer muskets, most of which are antiques, as they used to be popular.
