How long can a rusty car last?

The amount of rust on the outside of the car has very little to do with how long the car can actually last. The reason i say this is, the only way that is going to affect it is if it rust completely out, with the car being in that bad of shape i would more worry about the engine.

It depends. If just the body is rusty, the car can hold out a long time. Certain parts of the engine, however, will brook no rust. Get it looked at!
