The first line of defense in treating cirrhosis is to stop drinking if you drink. Although the liver can repair itself, consuming too much alcohol may hinder it's ability. Liver transplantation may be recommended in severe cases of cirrhosis of the liver.

If the cirrhosis is due to alcoholic liver disease, the treatmen would be to stop drinking. If it stems from hepatitis C, treat the hep with medication. In severe cases, all that can be done is to prevent or manage the complications that are caused by cirrhosis. If your liver fails, then you might need to consider a transplant.

You need to consult a doctor to ask what treatments are best for you. The doctor can tell you evrything you need to know. I don't know how many treatments there are out there for it. I think it depends on how bad the damage to the liver is also.
