It is not hard at all. Actually pigs are smarter than dogs and can be potty trained to go outside just like a dog. They actually make very good pets.

About like keeping and caring for a dog. They can be house trained and are actually smarter than dogs so they are easier to train. However, they do like to chew. Just be sure and have lots of safe, chewable items on hand unless you want to lose shoes.

Pigs can make very affection pets and they certainly are cute. They enjoy affection, especially hard scratching of the spine and behind the ears. However, pigs can not be toilet trained, so you need to have an appropriate outdoor enclosure where they can live. They are also much stronger than they look, and aren't ideal for young children.

Sometimes pigs cannot be kept as pets due to zoning laws. Pigs get big, produce lots of smelly waste and can be dangerous as adults. Not a good city pet.

That should not be your only reason for owning one, I have heard horror stories from owners of them. Where the exceed their size limitations and end up never becoming potty trained using the entire house as their toilet, which you have to take into consideration.
