Basically, HDTV is just like regular TV but with a higher-density of data in the signal. Standard Def tv has a lower resolution and refresh rate than HDTV. Often times, the audio the accompanies the HD video is a higher quality too, and formatted for use with surround sound systems.

HDTV provides the user with a much clearer picture and therefore a better viewing experience. It works by projecting four times as many pixels as a regular TV would do.

HDTV works by creating a clearer image, as the signal carries more data per pixel. This creates a higher resolution image.

HDTV works the same way as a regular tv. Electrons are excited by electricity. The difference between HDTV and regular TV is the number of lines that are in display within the screen. Originally HDTV worked with a electric gun but they have now graduated to plasma and LCD displays.
