How does cemetery plot ownership work?

Answer by  Amom (701)

The corporation running the cemetery owns cemetery property; the lot "owner" receives three privileges: the right of burial, the right to memorialized and the right to vote at lot owner meetings. You can buy and sell your right to burial as you see fit.

Contact the cemetary of your choice. They have counselors that can assist in your selection of what type of space, like above the ground ,in a wall, or a regular space..Then you can pay cash or set it up for a certain percent down then make monthly payments until it is paid for then you will own the space.

An individual can purchase a cemetery plot, which is a bit of real estate where his remains will be buried. The cemetery assumes general care of the plot.

A cemetery plot or future place for burial can be purchased at time of need or many years ahead of need. The spot is yours forever for use or resale.
