How do you wire a 277 volt light?

Answer by  worker4439 (128)

You must first make sure that the electrcal service is capable of 277v as most services are 110/220v. After it is verified that there is indeed 277v to ground you will have to connect the fixture wires to the supply wires as you would any light. Usually a bare or green grounding wire, a white neutrel, and a colored hot wire.

In a 480 volt three phase system 277 volts is the star point voltage. It can be used for a 277 voltage supply unless the ballast for this type of lighting is multi tapped. A multi tapped ballast on the other hand can be connected to the following voltages, 120, 208, 240, 277, 347, 480 and 600 volts.
