Using toner can be tricky. You must first make sure any rements of dye or color bleaching is out of your hair and your hair has been washed with shampoo. Then, apply the toner. Toner is generally a loose watery consistency so it is best to apply over a sink.

Clairol toner is meant to be used after you dye your hair to "tone down" the color. It helps with brassiness and getting weird of any color irregularites after dying.
