To use a wireless router as an extender you plug the router into the existing router, or the main router, and it will extend off of that. The wireless router may in some cases have to be the same brand or same router to extend. Extending the routers will not work unless they are plugged into one another.

Router as an extender is also called as a wireless repeater. The further you are in the origin, the weaker the signal you get. This is how you use the wireless repeaters, to repeat the signal for it to reach a much longer distance instead of running wires out as far as you wish your network can go.

If you do not have a wired router, just connect the wireless router up and configure it like how the wired router was configured. If you are extending through a wired router, just connect the wireless router up to the LAN port of the wired router. Remember to turn off DHCP for LAN clients on the wireless router.

So long as the extending router has a route from your original wireless router and a route to you it should be fine.

This depends on the model of wireless router. Many routers can be setup to connect to another as a client, and then rebroadcast the signal.

First you must check to know you wireless router supports repeater feature or not. if it does then goes to its configuration page via web browser (IE 7, IE8, etc.. ) and find that option. The problem then depend on your wireless router brand, like Linksys, D-Link, Buffalo, etc.. so i can't give any further instructions. Good luck with your problem.

You can not use a wireless router as an extender, it is not made for that. Router's are made for internet broadcasts only, trying to extend the range of effect may damage your system, call your local internet provider, they'll send someone over that will help you fix the problem.
