How do you trim back your cuticles without cutting yourself?

Every time I try and trim my own cuticles I end up hurting myself.

First I'd use a cuticle remover on my cuticles. Leave it on for about a minute and then remove. Next use a cuticle pusher to GENTLY push your cuticles back. Finally, using cuticle nippers slowly and carefully begin to cut them. Take your time slow and steady.

First you must use a cuticle softener to soften it. Then you use a cuticle tool to push back the softened cuticles. You will have some "bunched up" skin around the base of your nail. You then use the cuticle trimmer to cut away this bunched up skin. You don't have to cut too deep to get results.

It's really not necessary to trim cuticles. Many people say NOT to trim them, because their purpose is to protect the nailbed. To make them look a bit nicer, soak hands in warm water (with a bath oil if you like) the use an orange stick to push cuticles back.

You're not meant to trim your cuticles, you're meant to use something flat (e.g. the side of a nail file) to push them back when they are soft.

I just push cuticles back with own fingernails or sometimes a nail clipper. I do not use any special creams or lotions to soften cuticles to make them easier to maintain.

You could first wash your hands with soap and warm water and after that use a moisturizer for cuticles. This should be much easier to cut your cuticles.
