Rottis are generally very smart and are eager to please their owners. Being fiercely loyal, they'll do almost anything for you. Positive reinforcement is always a great way to go to teach tricks and behaviors. They'll do almost anything for some love and attention from their humans. They are very driven so training should be a pleasure.

Rottweilers, contrary to popular belief, are generally easily trained. Although some times they do require a bit more "firmness" in commands, for the most part they are highly intelligent.

This's a very smart, very loving dog that can be too protective of you and your children, so be aware of that. Get a good book on housetraining, or one of the many EXCELLENT sites online for Rottis. This dog trains EXCELLENTLY, he's BIG, so you have to socialize him well to command and leash, but he'll get it FAST.

When you want a dog to learn something you have to make sure the command is clear, and give treats when the dog responds correctly, give it a treat!
