The easiest way is to tie it in a square knot. Do a search for "square knot" to get step by step instructions.

Do not do this like when you tie your shoes. Begin this way by making the knot portion and then do the two rabbit ear like loops and tie them. Make sure that you have equal amounts of fabric in each loop - starting with the piece of fabric that comes out of the bottom of the knot. Good luck.

Instead of trying a bow like on your shoes take the two loops and intertwine the loops of the bow. It should create a more elegant looking bow like on a present instead of a shoe.
