The most simple way to test silver is to measure its weight and its volume and to compare the quotient weight/volume with the density of pure silver which is about 10.49 g/cm^3. Another possibility is to use an acid test kit you can purchase at a goldsmith.

Pour french's brand yellow mustard on it and heat it. If it makes a blue dark blue stain then it is pure. You can clean this with vinegar.
