Male mice tend to be less active than female mice. Male mice also smell stronger than females. About two weeks after birth, you should be able to see male sex parts on males (i. e. testicles). The female sex organs are closer to the rectum than males sex organs. Raise the tail if 2 holes appear it is a female.

There are several ways to tell the difference between male and female mice. The easiest way is to lift the tail and look for 2 testicles, if they are present it's a male. You can also look for nipples which are only present in females.

Male mice usually have visible testes. If you are able to hold the mouse, gently, upside down in your hand, you should be able to see these testes in the male mice.

The simple answer is that male mice have a scrotum located between their rear legs, its a rather obvious pink bulge.
