How do you survive the middle school years?

Really listen to your kids and try to read between the lines. Sometimes they might be trying to tell you something without actually telling you. Compromise and negotiation, When trying to work things out always start your argument higher then you are happy with that way when you come down it will look like you have given in more!

Have a lot of patience, and teach them to come to you when they have problems. Try to understand what they are saying.

One requirement would be to have lots of patience. Good communication is also key. Listen to your child. You must also be willing to compromise when disputes arise.
