How do you stop teeth grinding in children?

I'm afraid it's going to damage their teeth.

Grinding can be a response to a lot of different things. Stress, worms, a high spot on a new restoration, a tooth becoming mobile and ready to exfoliate. If it is a new habit, look at what is different. Treat the cause if you can identify it. Otherwise off the the dentist for a splint to protect their teeth

A special mouth guard can be made to keep the teeth from grinding. Sometimes a change of the child's sleeping position will help.

Years of teeth grinding can slowly reposition and wear down the teeth. Dentists can create special mouth guards that your children should wear when they're sleeping. It's comfortable and will prevent them from grinding their teeth in their sleep. It typically only takes a few minutes for the dentist to make a guard that is built specifically for their mouth.
