It's very difficult to stop alone. The best way to stop is through a support group, that you can rely on for advice when the cravings get bad. Alone, you could try is to replace the craving with chips or peanuts. Eat some every time you have a craving, to trick yourself into thinking that is what you are craving.

Quitting any addiction alone is very difficult. Your best hope is to replace the alcohol with something healthier but also satisfying. Keep your hands, and mind, busy as can be.

The most effective way is to form a support network of friends that will reinforce and monitor your behaviour. Your commitment to succeed will be greatly enhanced by this method. More importantly , it will increase the sustainability of your plan.

Contact a doctor or a social worker who can help you. AA is an anonymous group of people who support one another to keep alcohol in check. Good luck!
