You normally put vegetables in a window box garden. You can use wood or cardboard to set up your box garden. Fill it with soil and water once seeded. Place it out by the window and let the sunlight get to it. You want to watch for bugs and spray on occasion.

It is always nice to look out, see, and smell the petunias or daisies. You might take delight in an herb assortment. To start, place rocks in the bottom of the box for drainage and fill ¾ of the box with rich potting soil and be sure to water frequently and allow for at least six hours of sun.

Local greenhouses offer so many differnt gardening ideas. Most houses seperate their yeilds into annuals, perennials, houseplants, etc. Depending on the size of your planter you will easily find Petunia's, Geraniums, Lobelia, Cascading Ivy, Verbenea, or other annual varieties to enhance any window area. Sunflowers however, are not recommended for window boxes.
