Always start with base parts, in this case the body and head shapes. Then add the ears, eyes, nose, and mouth. From there add details, fur, whiskers, etc.

To sketch a cat, start with the simple shapes. Draw in the contour of the body, and from there add in detail, shadows and highlights.
