With needle, pull thread from the back of fabric through holes of button and back out through another hole into fabric. Go through all of holes of button one or two times. Wrap thread around threads holding button to fabric a few times. Repeat the first step and tie off.

Start with a needle and a knotted doubled length of thread. Bring the knotted thread through the back of the fabric in the place you want the button to be. Slide the button on the needle and stick the needle through the second buttonhole and fabric and repeat this process several times. Tie a knot in the thread to secure.

Put the button where you want to sew it with a safety pin behind it. Tie a knot in the string on a threaded needle. From the underside, pass the needle up through one hole and down the next. Repeat until you feel it is secure, remove the safety pin.

Take heavy thread, and hold the button down where you want it and go up and down through the button holes. Usually I make an X when sewing.
