How do you respond to someone who says "mazel tov" to you?

"Mazeltov" is Yiddish for congratulations; to respond in Yiddish, you can say "dank" or "thank you. "

You can just say "thank you", or "mazel tov" back (depending on the occasion) or have a go at "Baruch tiheeyeh" (sometimes used in Israel).

Right... its ok to say mazel tov back, but only if it is at some event where it would be appropriate to congratulate someone in return. If you specifically accomplished something (for example at your graduation, or your birthday), you wouldn't say "mazel tov" back.  add a comment
