Drop and drain the fuel tank. Unscrew the fuel filter housing. Replace the fuel filter and the gas tank. See if it works. If you can handle all that you will be just fine.

1: start By relieving fuel pressure. remove the fuel pump relay under hood and start engine, let it run untill it stalls from no fuel 2: find fuel filter under drivers side of cab 3: use a 5/16th fuel line removal tool (available at most auto parts stores)to undo lines. 4: reverse procedures to install

On older models there are two plastic clips that hold the lines to the filter. Remove these and replace them with the new ones that come with the filter. On newer models you will need a special tool to compress the springs that hold the line on.

Replacing the fuel filter is one if the easiest jobs for do-it-yourselfers. The F-150 has a small box like compartment that houses the fuel filter. You'll need a flathead screwdriver to open the filter compartment. Once you have it opened, the old filter will snap out of place.
