How do you replace an Oldsmobile transmission?

Assuming rear wheel drive. Raise car level, hydralic floor jack to transmission center, slight pressure.disconnect rear u joint.remove driveshaft.Disconnect linkage, vacuum lines, and cooler lines.Remove starter and dust cover. Loosen rear transmission mount. Remove bolts connecting engine to transmission.Remove tranmission mount. 2 people slide transmission out. Reverse procedure.

Unbolt the transmission from engine. Then unbolt the flexplate from torque converter. Remove drive shaft and unbolt crossmember from frame. Lower transmission down.

you should get this professionally done, but you would need to lift the car up, and drop the transmission out from under it, and then put the new one back in. depending on cars you may need to take the engine out. lots of fiddling with fits will be required.

1)disconnect negative battery terminal 2)remove air box assy. 3)remove transmisson connectors 4)remove starter assy. 5)remove shifter cable 6)remove top bellhousing bolts 7)lift vehicle to gain access to transmission 8)remove access panel to gain access to torque converter bolts 9)remove torque converter bolts 10)support engine assy. with a jack and remove lower bellhousing bolts 11)remove transmission assy.
