How do you replace a VW automatic transmission?

Disconnect the shift linkage and electrical connections from the transmission. Drain the transmission fluid. Remove the driveshaft. Unbolt the transmission from the bellhousing. Lower the transmission from the vehicle. Remove the torque converter. To replace, install torque converter, raise transmission up to the vehicle and bolt to the bellhousing. Replace the driveshaft and connections.

You can remove the engine and transmission as a complete unit. Then proceed to swap the transmission and finally reinstall the entire assembly

This something you will need to have a professional do, you will need an engine lift to remove the engine to reach the transmission to replace it.

Replacement steps. 1 Warm up the transmission fluid. 2 Check the transmission fluid level . 3 Remove the fluid line . 4 Turn on the engine.Reattach the line to transmission.
