Finding a replacement is the hardest part once you have done this your work is half done. All you need to do after that is take of any covers or housings that may be in the way. Next unbolt the old one and remove it watching for gaskets or seals. Then install the new one replacing any gaskets or seals.

Every consumer mower engine I've ever seen has a muffler held on by two bolts. It's a simple remove and replace. Just remove any metal or plastic engine covers, remove the two bolts holding the old muffler on, and pull the old one off. Bolt the new one on, reassemble.
