The civics that I have worked on have an bulb access point from inside the engine compartment. You simple turn the bulb connection to the left and the back of the light assembly pops right out, install the new bulb and push the assembly back in turning it to the right to set in place.

The bulb is accessed from behind the grill. Remove the electrical connector, unscrew the ring holding the bulb to the headlamp bucket and remove bulb. Insert new bulb into headlamp bucket making sure not to touch the bulb, screw on the ring, plug the lamp into connector.

Lift the hood and locate the backside of the headlamp housing. There will be a cover held on by either some clamps or screws. Remove the cover and locate the headlamp (as opposed to the turn or high beam). Twist the bulb or remove the wire holding it and it's wire harness. Don't touch the glass of the new bulb.

Turn off the vehicle, and turn the handle to the side of bulb you want to replace. Reach around the back of the bulb, and pull the tab on the bottom of the boot sealing the bulb. Replace the bulb. Then, put the boot back in place. Make sure there is a click sound when sealing it again.
