This is a fairly difficult repair. If you consider yourself a novice I would insist that you contact an automotive expert. The fuel pump is located just under the engine so you may need to crawl under the cab, it's help in by bolts. You'll need the right sized socket.

It depends on which year and submodel Jimmy. Several models have an easily reached fuel pump on the midportion of the passenger side frame, these only take 2 wrenches to remove. The newer versions have the pump inside the gase tank and is best done by removing the tank.

Start with as an empty of a tank as you can. Remove the tank shield and all fuel/electrical lines. Unbolt the tank and lower with a jack. Unscrew fuel pump, remove and replace with new one. Do not overtighten screws. Raise, attach tank, shield, fuel/electrical lines and fill.
