How do you remove the starter after taking out the bolts on a Grand Marquis?

Make sure you have all the bolts out and all the wires disconnected. Sometimes there can be some hidden ones. If it's still stuck, tap on it with a hammer.

Once you remove the starter bolts, positive cable, and solinoid from the starter, take a rubber mallet and tap on the middle of the starter.

Once the bolts have been removed and all wire have been disconnected it should slide straight back and off. After the bolts are removed the only thing that might be left to hold it on is a small dowel pin but this should slide out of the block easily. Just look out for shim when you remove the starter.

you should be able to pull the starter right out after the bolts are out. just make sure that its completely disconnected and I always disconnect the battery before i do anything.

If you are wanting to take out the starter at this stage then you will need to first take off all of the wires and then remove the actual harness.
