You will need to unscrew the machine and make sure that the machine is unplugged and has no left over water in it. The tub will be held in on a belt. You will need to disconnect the tub from the belt. You should need a swrew driver and an extra hand for the lifting.

Unfortunately all the repair that are done to the washing machine is done from the back. Get your owners manual out and it should give you instructions.

you have to get a dolly (carrying devise for heavy equipment) "i dont exactly no the right name for it but its relative to a crank." once you get this device then you must get somebody to help you, perhaps a man in his 30's or a teenager to help lift. or hire somone from sears.

Change the position of the washer to horizontal position. Then remove the base cover screws. THen you can see the electrical wiring. Donot change any of it. Without disturbing those connections, unscrew the screws which hold the drum of the washer and move the drum upwards from the bottom of the washer. You are done.

You can remove your tub from the top load washing machine while it spins. The spining action would release the tightened actions gradually. This is the right time to remove the tub from a top load washing machine. This is the technique followed in most of the laundries and also in home levels.
