TANF is a form of temporary welfare. You must have income below the poverty line and children under 18 years old whom you support. You cannot be receiving Social Security Disability or have assets over $3000.
The application for TANF includes a review of the family's circumstances, including rent, utilities, income of the adults, how many in the household and other relevant bits of information.
