Pick a location that has a special meaning for your relationship or perhaps a location way out in the wilderness that has an excellent view.

You should make it totally romantic ask her parents first. Then you should surprise her totally on a day she would never expect like Christmas or Halloween, Thanksgiving are ideas.

It depends on you and the woman. Many women like to be asked in a romantic way--you don't have to get down on one knee, but try to arrange a special place or time to pop the question, like a nice restaurant or some other place that's special to you.
