You can't, I lost my mom very suddenly, its not something you can prepare yourself for, but when it does happen, you take it day by day.

You don't. Death is always hard. You can TRY to prepare by talking to them about what they want for their funerals, etc, and by making sure that you never leave anything unsaid. Communication is the most important thing; it's what you don't say to them that they'll regret. You can also make sure they enjoy their lives before death.

Aside from the practical matters, there's little you can do to prepare so concentrate on getting their finances are in order, a will, and have proper burial arrangements in place.

Whenever a parent dies, it is difficult on the children, regardless of age. Spending time with your parents, trusting in the Lord's words can help ease sorrow when time comes.

Emotionally you will be effected and there is no way to change that. You can find funeral arrangements and prepare in that way but emotionally you can't.

It's not something you really prepare yourself for. When it happens it will hit you like a ton of bricks. You can accept the fact that one day they will pass on and you will be without them.
